Abstract

The problem of regional development lies in the distribution of uneven population density which causes social and economic inequality in an area. This problem occurs in Klaten Regency due to the potential for differences in population composition, accessibility and socio-economic conditions. This study explains how the population composition, accessibility and socio-economic conditions relate to population density. This study aims to determine the factors that influence population density and determine the distribution of population density classes in Klaten Regency. We used quantitative method with the use of multiple linear regression and clustering with the unit of analysis, namely the sub-district. The results showed that the variables that affect population density are road density and market presence with the regression Y equation (population density) = 693.5 + 1015.5 * X4 (road density) + 130, 9 * X6 (number of markets). Furthermore, in Klaten Regency were formed 2 classes of population density, namely high and low population density. The study concludes that population density is influenced by accessibility factors and socio-economic conditions that influence regional disparities by forming 2 classes of population density
