Abstract
This study aims to determine (1) the learning conditions of Civics, (2) the implementation of the strategy of critical thinking skills, (3) the ability to think critically, (4) constraints and solutions for the implementation of strategies to train critical thinking skills. The type of research used is qualitative research with case study research designs. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use 3 techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing or verification. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, Civics learning uses three steps in teaching namely planning, implementing, and evaluating. Second, the learning strategy used to train critical thinking skills is the make a match and true or false strategies. Third, students critical thinking skills improve well proven in learning students are able to answer questions, express opinions, and respond to friends opinions. Fourth, the constraints experienced by students tend to be crowded by themselves, students are shy when implementing strategies, there are still passive students, solutions given by giving questions spontaneously, asking students to express their opinions and respond to their friends opinions.
