Abstract

Regional economic development is a process whereby local governments and communities manage existing resources and establish a partnership pattern between local governments and the private sector to create new jobs and stimulate the development of economic growth in a region. (1) to examine the spatial variation of base sector and non-base sector of Magelang regency, (2) to examine which sectors are superior in each sub-district in Magelang district. In this study using the method of secondary data analysis using data of Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) Magelang District and per District in 2010-2014. Analysis of the results using Location Quotient (LQ) and Geographic Information System (GIS) Location Quotient (LQ) analysis results show the base sector in each sub-district; sub-district Salaman superior sector of agriculture, electricity gas and water supply, and services. Borobudur District excels in agriculture, mining, quarrying, hotel restaurant trade and also services. Ngluwar Subdistrict there are four sectors: agriculture, mining excavation, building and services. The existing base sector in all districts of Magelang is the service sector. Because of the Magelang regency that is right in the middle of central Java which is between Semarang regency and the northern part of Yogyakarta (DIY) south side of Magelang regency.
