Abstract
Abstract Procrastination of tasks is behavior that is not expected to be done by students because it has a negative impact. Students are expected to have a disciplined attitude and responsibility for college assignments as an obligation to become a good future generation. This study aims to determine a relationship between cognitive distortion and procrastination against the task of students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The sample of this study was 277 students from 10 faculties at UMS. The sampling technique of this study was stratified random sampling. The research method used in this study is a quantitative method using an academic procrastination scale measuring tool and the Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire scale. The data analysis technique used is the Spearman rank correlation from Spearman. Based on the results of data analysis obtained the value of the correlation coefficient (r) of 0.455 with sig. (1tailed) = 0,000; p <0.01, which means that there is a very significant positive relationship between cognitive distortion and procrastination against the task. The effective contribution of the positive distortion to procrastination on UMS student duties is 20.7%, so there are still 79.3% of other factors that influence procrastination against UMS student assignments in addition to cognitive distortion factors.
