Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) The influence of teaching experience on teacher competencies, (2) The influence of educational background on teacher competencies, (3) The influence of teaching experience and educational background on teacher competence. The population in the study were 64 teachers of SMA Negeri 3 Sukoharjo, with a sample of 52 teachers. Sampling method with simple random sampling. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and documentation. The instrument test was conducted on 12 teachers of SMA Negeri 3 Sukoharjo. Data analysis used is multiple regression analysis, including t test, F test, R2 test, Relative Donation and effective contribution. The results of multiple regression show Y = 44,420 + 2,409X1 + 4,105X2. The results of the study were obtained (1) The teaching experience had a significant effect on teacher competence. This was proven based on regression analysis which obtained tcount > ttable that is 2,345 > 2,009. (2) Background education has a significant effect on teacher competence. This is proven based on regression analysis which obtained the value of tcount > ttable that is 2,370 > 2,009. (3) Teaching experience and educational background have a simultaneous effect on teacher competence. This was proven based on regression analysis which obtained the Fvalue > Ftable is 6,647 > 3,19. (4) Variable teaching experience provides a Relative Donation of 32,7% and Effective Contribution of 6,97%, while educational background variables provide a Relative Contribution of 67,3% and Effective Contribution of 14,33%. (5) R2 calculation results obtained a value of 0,213 which means that 21,3% of teacher competence is influenced by teaching experience and educational background, while the remaining 78,7% is influenced by other variables outside of research.
