Abstract
This study aims to 1) Improve mathematical problem solving skills through PBL strategies for fourth grade students at SD Negeri 2 Teras. 2) Increasing the learning activities of fourth grade students at SD Negeri 2 Teras. 3) Increase teacher activity in teaching fourth grade students at SD Negeri 2 Teras. This study uses a type of classroom action research. This study contained two cycles of each cycle consisting of 5 stages: Initial Dialogue, Planning, Implementation, Observation and Reflection. Data collection techniques using observation, tests, documentation. The results showed that 1) problem solving ability in mathematics learning in class IV had increased. The details of the improvement are through an indicator of understanding the problem of 64.2% in cycle II 96.4%. Then the indicators compile a problem solving plan in the first cycle 53.6%, while in the second cycle 92.9%. The indicator runs a 46.4% problem solving plan after the second cycle which is 92.9%. For indicators, check the results of the first cycle 42.9% while in the second cycle 96.4%. 2) Student activity during learning takes place in the first cycle is not good, then in the second cycle is quite good. 3) Teacher activity during the learning process takes place in the first cycle is not optimal, while for cycle II the teacher has mastered the PBL strategy that is applied.
