Abstract

The purpose of this research were (1) described the socio historical background of Tere Liye the novel Rindu author, (2) described the structure of the builder novel Rindu by Tere Liye (3) described the inner conflicts of the main characters contained in novel Rindu by Tere Liye (4) explained the relevance of inner conflict of the main character in Rindu novel as teaching material literature in SMA. This research was descriptive qualitative. The object of this research was the inner conflicts of the main characters contained in novel Rindu by Tere Liye. Technique of collecting the data were library, scrutinize, note. Technique of validity data was trianggulasi data. Technique of analysis data was semiotic model. Result of analysis data were (1) the sociohistorical setting of Tere Liye, the author of a longing novel Rindu (2) structural analysis produced the (a) theme of this novel told about the meaningful pilgrimage trip (b) main character was Daeng Andipati, additional characters were Ahmad Karaeng, Ambo Uleng, Sergeant Lucas, Bunda Upe (c) the plot was mixture plot (d) background was background scene on Blitar Holland ship, Makassar harbour, Mosque Ship, Canteen Ship, Surabaya Harbour, Turi Market; time background for 9 months; social setting told about the meaningful pilgrimage trip (3) inner conflicts of the main characters in novel Rindu by Tere Liye were approach-approach conflict, approach-avoidance conflict, avoidance-avoidance conflict (4) result of research was relevanced as literary teaching material in SMA based on curriculum 2013 KD (3.9) analyze the content and language of the novel.
