Abstract

Kartasura Sub-district is an an alternative route in transporting goods and services from outside and connecting several districts and cities, causing increase traffic . increassed traffic conditions are not supported by good road pavement. This research aimed to mapping the distribution of damage to collector roads, local roads, and environmental roads to Kartasura sub-district by using the application of Geographic Information System as well as knowing the factor of affect the road damage. The method of this research is survey and scoring parameters, such as rainfall, soil texture, drainage canal, and traffic volume divided by road width. The purposive sampling field survey method used to check the availability of drainage canal that had previously been interpreted using Quickbird imagery. Another data such as rainfall, soil texture, traffic volume, and road width are obtained from relevant intitutes. The final field survey is an interview with the community to find out the factor that affect the damage to the road. The results of this study are the Road Damage Level Map that describes the damage to the road in Kartasura Sub-district divided into two classes, including low damage class and medium damage class. The low damage class consists of 41 roads with total length is 41.63 km spread acroas all region. Medium damage class consists of 6 roads with total length of 10.39 km spread to Adi Sumarmo street, Pabelan-Gonilan, Ngemplak-Kartasura, Terminal Lama street, Pajang-Parangtejo, dan Kranggan-Mangkuyuban street. Factors that affecting damage to the road from interview activities are the condition of the drainage canal that is not functioning optimally and the amount of traffic volume that is in the middle level caused by the construction of settlements and center-satisfaction activities such as education and the economy. The majority of roads in Kartasura sub-district have been repaired in May, June, and July. But there are still some roads in a damaged condition such as Jl. Candi Baru - Gajahan, Jl. Lama Terminal, Tegalan - Mangkuyudan, and Pabelan - Gonilan.
