Abstract

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel made from a renewable biological sources such as vegetable oils, animal fats and waste vegetable oil. The one source that could be used i.e. from waste coconut dregs. Waste dregs of coconut oil contains approximately 12.20–15.90%, this content can be converted into biodiesel. The process of extraction and manufacture of biodiesel was performed using ultrasonic tool. Ultrasonic waves are able to accelerate reactions due to the effect of the cavitation effect, giving the effect of heat, structural effects which makes penetration of the solution of dissolved substance and homogenization occurred more quickly. The process of making biodiesel made with alkaline catalysts heterogeneous CaO. CaO is the material that it's cheap and has low solubility in the solvent methanol. The process of extraction of coconut oil and transesterification waste dregs of coconut oil to was changed to biodiesel is done using ultrasonic frequency 60 kHz. The extraction process is carried out for 2 hours with raw materials from 10 kg of dried waste dregs of coconut produced 1000 ml coconut oil. The process of Transesterification ultrasonic is done with 2 free variables, namely CaO catalyst variation of 1.00%, 2.00%, 3.00% and temperature variations and 500C, 600C, and 700C for 60 minutes. Comparison of the ratio of molar oil methanol used in oil Transesterification process of waste dregs of coconut oil, namely of 1:15 Mole. To know the quality of biodiesel, do some testing with standard biodiesel that is a test of the GC-MS and test the physical form kinematic viscosity, density, and number of the acid. From the overall test already qualify SNI 7182:2015 biodiesel quality standard. Methyl ester of the highest yield reached a 38.40% with conversion rate of methyl ester of 52.30%.
