Abstract
Electricity is one type of energy source that can turn into heat energy or motion. Electricity is a vital necessity that is vital to support community activities. Increasing the use of electrical energy can serve as a benchmark of people's prosperity. On the other hand there are problems in the provision of electrical energy for people living in remote areas. Particularly the people of Rarak Ronges Village, Brang Rea Sub-district, which has not yet reached the power grid from the state electricity company. Solution to overcome electrical problems is by utilizing solar cell technology as alternative energy. In this research, solar home system design is made by identifying the needs of household expenses, component requirements, and calculating the power generated, as well as calculating the required cost. Analyze the profit and duration of Return On Investement if electricity is sold to PLN. Design results show maximum power generated 1000 watts with household electrical load of 600 Wh per day, using solar panels with a capacity of 100 WP as much as 3 pieces, and a battery with a capacity of 100 Ah as many as 6 units. The energy absorbed by the house is 580.35 kWh per year. The SHS plan requires an initial investment of Rp.18.292.600. Data from Return On Investement calculations show that payback period will be achieved for 8.0 years
