Abstract

Abstract Students who are studying at collages are required to discuss their studies within a predetermined period of time. The fact is that there are still many students who postpone to discuss their studies. One of the factors that influence academic procrastination is self-efficacy. The purpose of this study is to understand and describe self-efficacy in students who experience academic procrastination. Subjects in this study were 5 active students studying at Muhammadiyah University Surakarta Faculty of Psychology. Data collection uses semi-structured interviews. Data analysis techniques using descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion it can be concluded that the five students have differebt levels of self-efficacy, four of them have poor self-efficacy in the face of a task because the subject avoids the task, while one subject has self-efficacy in dealing with the task because it does not avoid task. There are two factors that can influence the level of self-efficacy in students who experience academic procrastination, namely internal and external factors. Internal factors include the dependence on the mood, the subject does not like to be regulated and prosecuted, and the subject is lazy. While external factors include the number of task, influence of friends, trust, strategy and effort. Keywords: self-efficacy, academic procrastination
