Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of financial rewards, professional training, professional recognition, social values, work environment, labor market considerations, and personality on career selection to become a public accountant. The sample in this study were 85 respondents accounting students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The sampling method used in this study is purposive sampling. The analytical technique used is multiple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS version 21. The results of the study show that social values have a significant effect on career selection to be a public accountant, while financial awards, professional training, professional recognition, work environment, labor market considerations, and personality have no effect (statistically insignificant) on career selection to become an accountant public.
