Abstract
Composite resin has many types, one type of composite resin that being developed today is a nanofiller composite resin that has advantages which have excellent strength, resilience polish results and resulting a high aesthetic, but this composite resin still has some weakness which is the occurrence of shrinkage during polymerization causing microscopic gab and resulting edge leakage, but there are several ways to prevent or minimize the occurrence of edge leakage by giving EDTA as a cavity cleanser which can cleanse the smear layer to make the attachment between the material and the tooth structure stronger. This study aims to determined the effect of addition of EDTA 17% as cavity cleanser to decrease edge leakage of composite resin. This study used a post test-only design study that measured the leakage of a composite resin edge without the addition of EDTA as cavity cleanser and with the addition of EDTA as a cavity cleanser. The object of this research was nanofiller composite resin of 32 samples divided into 2 groups; control and treatment group. The Independent t-test results showed a significant mean difference (<0.05) with the average in both treatment group was 67.893 MPa and control was 147,506 MPa. So it can be concluded that the addition of EDTA as cavity cleanser had an effect on decrease of nanofiller composite resin edge leakage.
