Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Special Sports Class Program in instilling a character of respect for appreciate achievement and hard work, obstacles faced, and solutions to overcome these obstacles. The subject of the study is the Special Sports Class program students. The research method used is qualitative, and uses interview data collection techniques, observation, and documentation with flow model analysis. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the Special Sports Class Program in instilling a character appreciates achievement and hard work in Surakarta State 1 Junior High School, includes: familiarizing students to congratulate friends who excel, accomplish tasks well, and follow and be able to become winners of the competition; encourage, motivate, and praise the work to be done and the results that will be obtained; high-willedness accompanied by harder practice; allow other friends to express opinions; not give up when facing defeat and want to learn from successful athletes, not only can master the sport but also be able to excel in the academic field; adjust and use the time that is owned correctly; doing positive things and directed to hone their skills; the existence of a given task means that the student has a responsibility to be solved; and preparing everything that will be used. The obstacles faced in instilling character respect achievement and hard work, includes: Special Sports Class Program students are not easy to organize and sometimes students tend to rebel; tend to be easily tired and bored when taking classes in class; and Students lack concentration when learning takes place. Solutions to overcome these obstacles include: the teacher or trainer advises and is invited to communicate in a smooth manner; invites students to learn more fun, passionate, and interspersed with humor and use active and innovative methods; as well as arranging the materials and materials that will be delivered so as to invite the attention of learners.
