Abstract
Administratively, Klaten Regency located between two major cities Surakarta and Yogyakarta Special Province. Due to location, Klaten Become an important connected area between surakarta and Yogyakarta. This condition gives impact to Klaten on continuous land use change which it significantly causes temperature rise in recent years. The spatial pattern of land use that cause temperature increment might be mapped, which it could help the government to consider appropriate policies on land use for every sub-district in Klaten Regency. The objectives of this research are (1) Identifying the spatial distribution of land cover temporary in Klaten Regency, (2) Identifying the surface temperature and environmental quality temporary in Klaten Regency, and (3) analyzing the correlation between land use and surface temperature in Klaten Regency. The analysis method that used in this research is primary and secondary data analysis and field surveying. The vegetation index and surface temperatur comparison was done by field surveying by using single band algorithm in actual condition in Klaten Regency. The primary data analysis is accomplished in 2002, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014 and 2017, this analysis used Landsat image. Furthermore, secondary data analysis is executed by direct measurement which was done by the approriate agency. Results of this research are (1) vegetation density that divided into 13 classes in Klaten Regency, each class has different pattern change in certain period (2) surface temperature which splitted into 5 classes that has contrary distribution pattern in every period (3) Analysis of correlation between NDVI and surface temperature by using satellite imagery which was done in 2017 that shows 0,5972 as its value.
