Abstract

Health cadres have a strategic role in assisting families in caring for mental patients. Increasing knowledge, attitude and behavior of health cadres is very important so that health cadres can assist family optimally. Providing health promotion is one step to increase knowledge, attitude and tendency perilka cadres in helping families whose members have mental disorders. This study aims to determine whether there is influence of health promotion to improve knowledge, attitudes and tendency to behave on the existing cadres of members of society experiencing mental disorders in Sukoharjo District. This research is a quantitative research using one-group design pre-post test design. The population of this research is 33 health cadres around the family whose family members are patient of post-pasca mental disorder in Sukoharjo regency. The sample of 33 health cadres were determined using total sampling technique. The data were collected using questionnaire instrument, while data analysis used Wilcoxon Signed rank test and Paired Sample t-test. The conclusion of the study is that there is a significant influence of health promotion on the improvement of knowledge, attitude and behavioral trends about the treatment of mental patients in mental health cadres in Sukoharjo District.
