Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of tourism sector on the absorption of labor in 5 Regencies / Municipalities Special Region of Yogyakarta in the period 2011-2016. The data used are labor absorption, number of hotel and restaurant, number of tourism object, number of tourists, income per capita. The analysis model used in this research is panel data regression using cross section and time series data. Data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and the Yogyakarta Tourism Office. The result shows that based on the cross section test the number of hotels and restaurants and the number of tourists has a positive and significant influence on the absorption of labor while the number of tourism objects and income per capita has no significant effect on the absorption of labor in 5 districts / cities of Yogyakarta Special Region during the period of 2011- 2016. Based on the time series test the number of hotels and restaurants, the number of attractions, the number of tourists, and the income level of the population has a positive and significant influence on the absorption of labor in 5 Regencies / Municipalities Special Region of Yogyakarta during the period 2011-2016.
