Abstract

Job satisfaction is an emotion or pleasant feeling that every employee feels about his work assessment, where the level of job satisfaction of each employee was different due to differences in the value system adopted, attitude, behavior, discipline, and employees’ performance. One of the determinants of the job satisfaction of employee is job security, when they don’t meet the aspects of job insecurity then the job insecurity appears. Employment status is one of the aspects that causes job insecurity, because they feel the uncertainity of job security in the future, thus impact the level of job satisfaction of the employee. The purpose of this study was : 1) To know the correlation between job insecurity with job satisfaction, 2) To know job satisfaction differences based on an employee status, 3) To know job insecurity level, 4) To know job satisfaction level, 5) To know the effective contribution of job insecurity to job satisfaction. The subjects were 110 employees (55 permanent employees and 55 contract employees) of PT. Dan Liris. Researchers used the job insecurity and the job satisfaction scales as a tools for measuring variables, and the employment status variables can be seen from the selected option subject on the identity column. Data analysis method used was Product Moment Pearson Correlation and Mann-Whitney Test. The result shows that: 1) There was a very significant negative relationship between job insecurity with job satisfaction, 2) There was a difference of job satisfaction between permanent employee and contract employee, 3) Level of job insecurity were low, 4) Level of job satisfaction were high, 5) Job insecurity variables give effective contribution of 7.2% on employee job satisfaction
