Abstract

The electrical energy is generated at the power plant which is usually loc ated away from the load center, so that transmission line is needed in order to distribute electrical energy to public. The substation is a part of transmission - distribution system that has a role as control center and consist of a set of extra - high - voltage devices. The power transformer as the main device in the substation should get routine maintenance in order to keep its reliability and trough some tests to prevent failures in the future. The method of this study is transformer condition analysis by off line testing, such as polarization - index calculation to determine the condition of transformer isolation, calculation of tangent delta winding and bushing to determine the strength and humidity of insulation substance, the analysis of data ratio to determine problems between winding, and data analysis of relays as the internal transformer protection. The result of transformer III 150/20 kV 16 MVA Jajar substation testing in offline condition shows IP value between 1,1 – 1,25 and 1,25 – 2,0 also tangent delta value 0,5% - 0,7% that means insulation resistance in a good condition but tend to decrease. Transformer winding is in good condition with value less than 0,5%, Bucholz relay condition is not normal with resistance value more than 2 MΩ and Sudden Pressure relay is in a good condition with resistance value more than 2 MΩ.
