Abstract

Organic pesticides are pesticides whose basic ingredients come from plants. Tuba plants are plants that produce toxic materials that can be used to control insect pests, both outdoors and indoors. This plant is also often used as a fish poison. The root of this tuba plant has a rotenone content. Rotenon is one of the organic pesticides obtained from the extraction of tuba roots (Derris elliptica). In this study extraction using ultrasonic extraction method to help speed up the extraction. And followed by purification using rotary vacuum filter for approximately 1 hour. In this extraction it is used as much as 10 grams of dried tuba root powder with a size of 70 mesh, the smaller the powder size, the easier the absorption of the solvent in the extract will be. The purpose of this study was to make organic pesticides from the root of tubal plants and determine the best extract results by using LD50 test. LD50 value of the root extract of tuba plants tested on cricket animals with ethanol solvent is the best with an LD50 amount of 563,634 mg / kgBB. Whereas the LD50 value of the root extract of tuba plants tested on cricket animals with methanol solvent is the best with an LD50 amount of 605.176 mg / kgBB.
