Abstract
Karst is a field with typical hydrologic conditions as a result of soluble rocks and has a second porosity that develop well (Ford and Williams, 1989). Soluble rocks that result in karst areas found many springs. Kayen District has a total of 17 villages, and 4 of them utilize the spring as a source of clean water and drinking water. Topography with steep slopes causes the 4 villages to not make use of ground water. The springs appearing on the surface of the earth is an indication of the presence of groundwater that comes out influenced by geomorphological factors. The purpose of this research is 1.) Determine the pattern of distribution and characteristics of springs in Kayen sub-district based on hydrogeomorphological approach, 2.) Assessing the factors of hydrogeomorphology that affect the appearance of springs. The research method is descriptive method with the type of research is the survey method. The survey was conducted with sampling method that is stratified purposive sampling. The results showed that 1.) The spreading pattern of clustered springs based on nearest neighbor analysis. Spread over in the area with land form that is the southern part of the Karstic/ Erosion Hills and Mountains (K3), and the eastern part of the Karst Aluvium Plains (K7) 2.) According to its energy emerging, the springs in Kayen sub-district are gravity springs with depressant and fracture springs, 3.) The appearance and characteristics of the springs in Kayen sub-district are influenced by sandstone and limestone. A large springs discharge is influenced by Miocene limestone. The appearance of water in the south is influenced by the presence of anticlinal folds. While the eastern part is influenced by the existence of a rocky rock.
