Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the teacher's understanding of authentic assessment, the application of authentic assessment, the issues of teachers in applying authentic assessment and the efforts of teachers and principals in overcoming the probability of teachers in applying authentic assessment in SD Negeri Lobang 02 Batang. This type of research is qualitative research and phenomenology research design. The resource persons of this research are first grade teacher, fourth grade teacher and the headmaster of SD Negeri Lobang 02 Batang. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques conducted during the study include data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results show that: 1) teachers' understanding of curriculum and authentic assessment is good enough, teachers have applied authentic assessment in accordance with the 2013 curriculum guideline but there are still some problems. 2) teacher's problems in applying authentic assessment of time were complicated and no valid raport application from the government. 3) problems based on the type of authentic assessment that is the assessment of journals, oral tests, performance and products. 4) the teacher's efforts are: finding information from other sources, following the workshop and bintek about the authentic assessment of the curriculum 2013. The principal's efforts are as follows: understanding teacher difficulties, finding examples of assessment applications, giving assessment manuals and giving evaluations to teachers.
