Abstract

This study aims to describe: 1. Teacher variation skills in improving students' learning motivation, 2. Factors inhibiting variation of teacher's teaching skills in improving student's learning motivation, 3. Teacher's effort in overcoming obstacle of variation skill of teacher's teaching in improving student's learning motivation. This research uses qualitative research type, single case study research design. The resulting data is qualitative data. Sources of data used there are two primary data sources include principals, teachers, and students. As well as secondary data sources in the form of photo documentation and recapitulation of student scores. The presence of researchers as a key instrument. Techniques of collecting data using interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques using qualitative analysis techniques with data reduction steps, data presentation, and data verification. Skills variations in teaching teachers in improving student learning motivation consist of: 1. Factors variation of teacher teaching style include: a. tone of voice volume, speaking speed, b. concentration of student attention, c. contact view, d. change of position, e. motion and mimic, f. silence. 2. Factors media variations and learning tools include: a. variations of visible tools (visual aids), b. variations of audible instruments (auditif aids), c. variations of tactile / manipulated / motorized (motor) tools, and d) variations of audible, sighted and palpable devices (audio-visual aids). 3. Factor variation of interaction patterns. Factors inhibiting the variation of teaching skills of teachers are: 1. The quality of teachers teaching style is still low, 2. Infrastructure and learning infrastructure is less adequate, 3. Background conditions such as learning motivation and reading culture is less supportive. Efforts are made to overcome obstacles are: 1. Creating creative learning media, 2. Utilizing the elements of the environment that encourages learning, 3. Asking opportunities for parents to pay more attention and support their children in the learning process, 4. Provide an opportunity to students to be more active again in teaching and learning activities so that student-centered learning, 5. Provide motivation to students to be more confident and more active learning. Keywords: skill, variation, learning motivation
