Abstract

The city of Surakarta is a very densely populated city, with a large building area and has a limited open space. One of the possible effects is the increase in temperature in the area that can make reduce comfort sense of the region. The temperature and humidity determine a comfortable place. problem solving that has a large awakened and the limited Space Open Green is the Vertical Garden. The definition of a vertical garden is an embodiment of an open green space that has, a model or a plant system that uses an media upright field as a plant. The purpose of this study is to knowing temperatured distribution the vertical gardens in Surakarta and to understand the effects of vertical parks on the temperature distribution in Surakarta. The method used in this research is a snowball method to obtain information related to the location and influence of vertical gardens in Surakarta. The way in which analysis is used is the spatial analysis of spatial, comparative and associations and use temperature index index to determine the comfort of the area. This research result is the vertical garden that spread in Surakarta City and understand the effect of vertical gardens into the temperature distribution. Vertical gardens are maximized to reduce temperature and humidity that can change the micro system in this area, applying vertical parks as the right natural resource management and one of the elements to create a smart city or smart city.
