Abstract

The object of this research is the Amazing Grace movie by Michael Apted. The major problem of this study is to analyze the film based on Marxist Approach. Besides, the objectives of the study are to analyze the structural elements of the filom. In conducting this study, the researcher uses qualitative research in which the data are based on primay data, the script of Amazing Grace film. While scondary data are reviews of the film those are collected from various sources and other data which deal with the research, such as, from the website, journal and other referenced that has connection with the research. In analyzing the data, she applies two approaches; they are structural approach and Marxist Approach. Structural analysis is used to analyze the elements of the film. It consists of character and characterization, setting, plot, point of view, theme, intent, style, casting, mise-en-scene, cinematography, editing and sound. While Marxist approach is used to analyze the coping struggle for the slavery. Based on the analysis, the result of this study describes the struggle for the slavery in eighteenth century in the British. Characters reflect her struggle to campaign the slavery of British in eighteenth century.
