Abstract

Market is a meeting place of sellers and buyers to make the process of buying and selling. In a traditional market area became the center of community commerce activities one of them is Johar market which has become the largest trading center in Semarang City. Its existence is one of the important things because in addition to being a trading center, Johar market is also a historic building that its existence must be remembered by the community. Because of the fire in 2015, the Johar market and the surrounding area including other markets in the region that inhibit the sale and purchase activities and also require revamping the surrounding market buildings including facilities inside. In the building itself for the building in Johar market rehabilitation is done while for the surrounding buildings built using neo vernacular approach that is the use of local elements combined with modern patterns. The use of neo vernacular approach is used so as not to eliminate the identity of one of the buildings in the area of Johar market which is a cultural heritage building. With so expected market will become more interesting because society is not only presented approach in terms of modern architecture but also local architecture, so that society will also know and continue to remember building of cultural heritage and do not forget it just like that.
