Abstract

Swimming pool facility in the form of sport buildings in the city of Surakarta is located in four places excluding the swimming pool facilities provided by the hotels around the city. Tirtomoyo Jebres Swimming Pool is the first swimming pool facility in Surakarta City which was used for the first National Sports Week (PON) in 1948 and never been renovated until now. Over time, many swimming pools with more attractive facilities emerged thus the Tirtomoyo Jebres Swimming Pool was left behind because it was neglected and had been closed for several years. The PDAM, the owner of Tirtomoyo Jebres Swimming Pool, create Tirtomoyo Manahan Swimming Pool located closer to the center of Surakarta City around the Manahan Surakarta Stadium later on. The plan to divert the Swimming Pool Tirtomoyo Jebres which doesn't make any profits every year to be a hotel had appeared but never been realized because the plan disapproved by Parliament Surakarta City given the history of the National Sports Week (PON). The purpose of planning and designing this building is to provide sport facility which are swimming, leisure, and educational facilities for the community around the city of Surakarta by reviving the Tirtomoyo Jebres Swimming Pool. Design processing occurred by finding source of useful review and study case from buildings with similar concept and function. The concept of design is done by combining old building with new building using the trace of memory concept and adaptive re-use to provide a more complex building that is Tirtomoyo Sport and Wellness Center.
