Abstract
This research aims to: 1) describe the advancement of learning process using Snowball Throwing strategy in IV grade of SD N 2 Dompyongan. 2) describe the improvement of students’ participation using Snowball Throwing strategy in IV grade of SD N 2 Dompyongan. This type of research is a classroom action research.Data collection techniques: observation, interview, questionnaire and documentation. Data validity: triangulation of techniquesand data sources. Result of research: 1) Snowball Throwingstrategy can improve thematic learning process in class IV; the existence of paper ball media can increase students’ motivation to make and answer questions. 2) Snowball Throwing strategy can increase students’ participation in thematic learning in class IV; there is an improvement in each indicator: Students’ emotional and mental involvement, initial condition 37.5%, cycle I increased to 47.8%, cycle II increased to 69.1%. Contributing to achieve goals, initial conditions 37.5%, cycle I increased to 48.5%. Cycle II increased to 75%. Actively answering the question, the initial condition of 35.3% cycle I increased to 49.3%, cycle II increased to 61.02%. Actively responding and proposing ideas, initial conditions 31.6%, cycle I increased to 40.4%, cycle II increased to 59.5%. Active to make conclusion, initial condition 30.14%, and cycle I increased to 40.4%, cycle II increased to 59.5%.
