Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the stereotypes and prejudices appear in Paul Haggis’s, The Crash. The data are text that consists of words, phrases and sentences. That is taken from movie manuscript entitled The Crash. In collecting the data, the writer uses documentary method by selecting of the movie that will be researched, watching and comprehending the movie that will be researched, choosing the approach that suitable with the movie, and coding the data that suitable with the movie. The first step of analyzing data is that the writer describes the data based on Social Psychological approach. The second step is that the writer analyzes the data to find the opinion of each of social psychology on “Crash” movie. Then analyze the data based on the characterization of the player in the movie and implicated a conclusion. Having analyzed the data, the writer finds that firstly, based on the structural analysis, it is evident that in this movie, the director wants to convey a message that diversity of ethnicity should not prevent people from helping each other, and the other elements that support this movie and other technical elements has the unity of structure that build the stories. Secondly, based on the psychological analysis, the director of this movie wants shown that this movie analyzes the characters in social relation about stereotypes and prejudices
