Abstract

Introduction Elderly will experience many health problems encountered in the elderly and degenerative processes cause changes in physical, psychological and social conditions in the elderly. Physiologically the quality of elderly sleep has been poorly coupled with physical changes in the elderly causing joint disorders such as osteoarthritis, gout, Rhematoid arthritis. Where the disease is causing discomfort in the area of joints that can disrupt the elderly and affect the quality of sleep elderly. The purpose of this study to determine the relationship of sleep quality with the characteristics of respondents in Posyandu elderly Sempukep Village Sidoharjo Wonogiri. The research type is descriptive correlative with cross sectional approach and using chisquare test. The study population was all elderly (elderly) who received Remathoid arthritis in Posyandu elderly of Sempukerep Village, Sidoharjo Sub-district, Wonogiri Regency with population of 135 respondents. The sample of this research is 57 elderly that obtained by purposive sampling technique. Measuring tool with a questionnaire Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and analysis of research data using descriptive analysis. The results of the study Characteristics of age showed no tendency of increasing age of elderly will increase sleep disorder elderly, which obtained p-value 0,707. In the gender characteristics showed a tendency of increased sleep disorder (p-value 0.015). Furthermore, the old category of rheumatoid arthritis did not show the tendency of longer suffering rheumatoid arthritis will be accompanied by a decrease in sleep quality (p-value 0.305). The research conclusion is the elderly in the village Sempukerep Sidoharjo Wonogiri sub-district is mostly 75-95 years old (54%), female (51%) and long-standing rheumatoid arthristik 3-4 years (56%) and elderly sleep quality with rheumatoid arthritis in elderly Posyandu Sempukerep village Sidoharjo Wonogiri most are good (67%).
