Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study is to improve the supervision of mothers of children aged 5-6 years who add to gadget addiction. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The method of collecting data in this study by using semi-structured interviews, observation and behavioral lists. The informants of this study returned 6 mothers who were obtained through the snowball sampling technique with the age range of informants 28-43 years, and had early childhood ages 0-6 years, and lived with mothers. The results of this study prove that children who use gadgets should not get out of the supervision that is supported, but most are mothers who lend gadgets when playing gadgets. Successfully demonstrated by mothers is invisible or not strong because mothers are busy working outside the home so the time is available for children, so the absence of mothers is replaced by gadgets, aside from monitoring gadgets, such as children learning to find out, looking for animal names, memorize short letters, and look for geometric shapes either through youtube videos or by playing games. The supervision that mothers apply to early childhood can lead to the closeness of children to mothers so that communication between mother and child emerges. From various supervision models that make habituation by children, mothers give freedom to children in using gadgets. Keywords: supervision, children, addicted to gadgets
