Abstract

Unpleasant side effects or complications are the problems faced by patients undergoing chemotherapy. These physical side effects have a psychological impact on cancer patients, one of which is the onset of anxiety both to the chemotherapy process and to the effects of chemotherapy for later patient life. Support from the family is an important factor when facing a problem (health) and as a preventive strategy to reduce anxiety where the view of life to be broad and not easily anxious. This study aims to determine the relationship of family support to anxiety patients cervical cancer undergo chemotherapy. This research is a quantitative descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The population of the study was all cervical cancer patients in RSUD Dr. Moewardi Surakarta during January2017-January 2018 amounted to 2619 people and who undervent chemotherapy from October 2017-February 2018 as many as 379 people. The samples of 40 people were determined using accidental sampling technique. Data collecting research using questionnaire, while data analysis using spearman rank correlation test. The result of the study of family support relationship with patient anxiety is rs -0,412 (p-value = 0,008) so that H0 rejected. The conclusion of the study that there was a relationship of family support to anxiety in cervical cancer patients who underwent chemotherapy in RSUD Dr. Moerwardi, the higher the family support the lighter the anxiety level.
