Abstract
This study aims to describe pelasanaan, forms, obstacles and alternative solutions of implementation as well as various constraints and alternative solutions in the implementation of the planting of religious character and responsibility through reading and writing Al-Qur'an to students in SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Surakarta year lesson 2017/2018. This research uses qualitative approach. collection of observation data, interviews and documentation. The validity of data using source triangulation and technique. Data analysis applies flow model through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The result of the research shows that the implementation of Al Qur'an reading activity in SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Surakarta is held every Tuesday and Wednesday morning after dhuha prayer for class VII after dzuhur prayer for class IX, Thursday after dhuha prayer for class VIII and after dzuhur prayer for class IX and for Friday after praying dhuha for class VIII and after prayer dzuhur class IX. The cultivation of religious character is done by applying an indicator of religious character that is commitment to the command and prohibition of Allah, eager to study the teachings of religion, active in religious activities, familiar with scripture. The planting of responsibility characters is done by applying the responsibility indicator that is doing the task and homework well, responsible for every deed, doing the picket on schedule that has been determined, from it can be seen that Koran Reading Al Qur'an able to instill character religious and responsibility to students in SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Surakarta. Constraints faced in the planting of religious character and the responsibility of the first is that there are some new students who can not read the Qur'an, so late in terms of time when students are expected to graduate from SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Surakarta has been fluent in reading the Qur'an ' an. The second obstacle is the absence of books of student development in reading the Qur'an, so can not be seen directly where the development has arrived. An alternative solution to overcome obstacles is the formation of small groups with peer mentor system and making books of reading Qur'an reading for students
