Abstract
This research was conducted at MI Muhammadiyah Special Program Kartasura. In this case special companion teachers (GPK) play an important role in helping learners who have difficulty learning to read (Dyslexia) by doing a personal approach to learners and provide individual guidance services. This study aims to determine the role of special escort teachers in overcoming the difficulties of reading learning (Dyslexia) in 5th grade students at MI Muhammadiyah PK Kartasura. This research uses qualitative research type and the design of this research is case study design. The subject of this research is Dyslexia's special assistant teacher in grade 5 at MI Muhammadiyah PK Kartasura. data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. The validity of the data in this study using the type of triangulation methods and sources. Data analysis technique is done by data reduction, present data, verification. Based on the results of data analysis, the conclusions are as follows: (1) the role of special escort teachers as motivators and mediators (2) the form of counseling conducted by special escort teachers is by using personal approach (3) special escort teachers in charge of making individual teaching program (4) Dyslexia children's assistance is entirely accomplished by special escort teachers.
