Abstract

Background : The problem of diabetes mellitus wound (DM) became a major complaint for diabetic patients due to complications of high blood sugar levels. Diabetes mellitus injury is a major problem for people with diabetes mellitus due to more attention paid wound care and relatively more expensive medical expenses for using oral or topical medications and using health services in their care. Diabetes mellitus injury should not be considered trivial because it can lead to complications that lead to amputation, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) in its development other than used for analgesics TENS is also used to help wound healing such as diabetes mellitus wound. Therefore, this study authors use transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation to decrease large wound of people diabetes mellitus. Objective : To find out the influence of TENS to decrease large wound of people diabetes mellitus. Method : Type of research conducted is single case study, research design used is A B design. In this study respondents who were taken as many as 3 people who have wounds due to diabetes mellitus and all done the treatment by measuring the extent of the wound before being given and after being given TENS for 4 weeks Results : The result of the data analysis showed that there was a reduction of wound area after the first TENS was given 55%, the second patient was 3.3%, and the third patient was 40%. So there is a significant effect on the reduction of wound area before and after TENS is given Conclusion : The results showed that there is a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation to decrease large wound of people diabetes mellitus
