Abstract

This research objectives are, describe the use of diction from denotative and connotative meanings and describe the use of language figurative of lyrics in Superman Is Dead’s song. The type if this research is qualitative with method descriptive analysis. The object in this research are words and sentences. Sources of research take from the lyrics of the song Superman Is Dead album Sunset di Tanah Anarki in bahasa only. The technique of collecting data are see and note technique, because the source is text. Validity used in this research is triangulation theory. Data analysis technique using flow analysis include three components of data redustion, data prsentation and conclusion drawing. The three components are iterrelated before, during and after the implementation of data collection. This research concludes that based on diction analysis, the use of diction connotative meaning more dominant in the lyrics of Superman Is Dead than diction denotative, it is appropriate from 57 data there’re 35 data using diction connotative and 22 data using diction denotative. Based on the analysis of language figurative, it’s conclude that Superman Is Dead lyrics include several language styles including personification, metaphor, simile, antithesis. The most dominant language styles used is metaphora with the result of 11 data from 21 data found.
