Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to is so that can know the power of different material welding connection by doing Tensile Test, Vickers Hardness Test, and Micro Structure on FSW welding.Welding on research uses the material of Aluminum series 6011 and Pure Copper with 2 mm thick. The parameters used are 1250 rpm rotational speed , feed rate speed 12.5 mm / minute. Welding results are analyzed by comparing the strength of welded joints between similar materials with different material types.From the results of different material welding testing showed maximum tensile stress of 67,30 MPa and maximum stretch of 4,59 %. For testing the hardness of the welding area there is a significant increase in hardness in the Stir Zone area compared to the HAZ area and the parent metal. The microstructure on the material dissimilar of test results indicates the presence of mixing of both metals in the Stir Zone area , on the HAZ Cu area the grain size decreased compared the grain size HAZ to material similar, whereas on the HAZ Al area has grain size enlargement compared to HAZ of similar material.
