Abstract
Background: Child is defined as a person less than eighteen years old and in a period of development with special needs, both physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. Meanwhile, child in the age of school is defined as a child in the 7-12 years old range, where the child begins to have an environment other than the family. Nursing and caring are inseparable. At the same time indicating that some practice activities should be based on caring behavior. Nurses need the ability to pay attention to others, intellectual, technical and interpersonal skills reflected in caring or affection in performing their functions and roles. Nurses perform their functions and roles to provide holistic nursing care to children based on caring behavior. Methods: This research used quantitative research type with survey approach using questioner in collecting data with survey research design. The sample used in this research is 49 children. Sampling technique using purposive sampling. Instrument used is using questionnaire. The analysis used is univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. Results: The caring frequency of nurses showed 28 nurses (57%) were good caring, and 21 nurses (43%) were less caring. While the distribution of the frequency of anxiety showed, mild anxiety as many as 18 children, moderate anxiety as many as 19 children, and severe anxiety as many as 12 children. Based on Chi Square Test the result is 0,017, it can be seen that p-value is less than 0.05. Conclusions: There is a relationship between nurses caring with anxiety levels in hospitalized children. The better the nurse caring the child's anxiety level is getting lighter. Suggestion in this research is able to use observation technique to observe child's anxiety level, and also add other factors related to anxiety level of children who undergo hospitalization.
