Abstract

Welding is the part that can not. Various welding methods used in the industrial world one of which is point welding. Welding material different point is the result of the development of welding technology to be able to minimize the weight of the vehicle so as to reduce fuel consumption. In this study aims to determine the effect of zinc filler elektropalting results on the welding point of different points of material between aluminum and stainless steel. The standard used for the specimen size is ASME QW 462.9, for chemical compositions using the ASTM A751-01 standard and for metallographic testing using the ASTM E407-07 standard. The point welding process is carried out with current parameters of 6000 A, 7000 A, 8000 A, and time of 0.2 dt, 0.3 dt, 0.4 dt. The result of chemical composition test of aluminum material is 6019 series alloy, stainless steel material including 430 ferritic series and zinc metal material is ZA-12 series. In test of macro photo of current and weld time influence to width of diameter of weld metal (nugget) where bigger current and welding time weld metal diameter (nugget) will be bigger. In the micro-photo testing it is seen that the parent metal area, HAZ, and weld metal did not change significantly, but only changed the grain.
