Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the use of video learning media to improve students' understanding of the symptom of volcanism activity; and (2) to know the result of student learning after using video learning media. The research method used is experiment with Systematic Sampling design. The selected sample is class VII B amounting to 32 students as control class and class VII C amounted to 32 students as experiment class. Control class is a class with the learning process does not take advantage of video media, while the experimental class is a class with the learning process using video media. Data analysis technique used is Wilxocon test. The results of this study indicate that there are changes in values before and after being treated 2 through a series of tests. Pre-test pre-test learning in the control class scored an average of 51.87 and the experimental class received an average score of 64.37. After being treated in the experimental class using video media and control class without using video media it is known that the average value based on the post-test assessment is that the experimental class gets the value of 84.37 and the control class gets the value of 69,06.This proves the level of understanding and changes in learning outcomes by using video media in the learning of the symptom of the activity of vulcanism and video media is very effective with proven student learning outcomes that get value above KKM or completed.
