Abstract

The availability of food crops should be able to meet the food needs of the entire population of the world. In Central Java most of the staple food is rice. Whereas corn can be a staple food other than rice. Therefore, the availability of maize should be maintained and developed, in this case is the production of maize. In this study aims to analyze the area of corn, paddy production, and GRDP on corn production in central java. Using panel data for 2010-2015, the data were obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the Office of Food Crops and Horticulture of Central Java, and other related institutions in this study. The analysis model used in this research is panel data regression with selected model is Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results of this study indicate that the area of corn, paddy production, and GRDP have a significant effect on maize production. This reinforces that corn can be an alternative food staple for people in Indonesia, especially the community of central Java.
