Abstract

Lemongrass leaf extract has the content of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, geraniols and citronellal which can be utilized as material of hand sanitizer manufacture to reduce alcohol and triclosan usage. The purpose of this research was to organoleptic test (scent, color, and pH) resulting from gel hand sanitizer made from lemongrass leaves with the addition of alcohol and triclosan. This research is an experimental research using Randomized Complete Design (RAL) with factorial pattern of 2 factors. The first factor is concentration of lemongrass leaf extract (K), K1=5 L, K2= 5,5 mL, K3=6 mL, and the second factor is the ratio of alcohol and triclosan (A), A1= 3ml:2gr, A2= 2ml: 1,75gr, A3= 1ml: 1,5gr, with qualitative descriptive data analysis. The results conclut that organoleptic test the most concentrated color of Brown Beige and the strongest scent was found in the treatment of K3A3, while for the pH parameter all treatments had pH value 4 (acidic).
