Abstract
This study aims to describe the types of errors, percentage errors, and factors causing errors committed by students of class VII G SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta in solving the problem of linear equations of one variable based on polya step. About the story in step polya there are four steps that is, understand the problem, plan, implement the plan, and check back answers. This research is a descriptive research with qualitative approach. Method used in this research is test method, interview and documentation. The subject of this research is the students of SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta. The results showed that there are four mistakes in solving the PLSV story problem based on the Polya step, that is the misunderstanding of the problem of 16.04%, the error of preparing the plan of 25.94%, the error of implementing the plan of 36.32, and error checking back answer of 21 , 69%. In this study the biggest mistake was made in the step of implementing the plan.
