Abstract

Character education is the cultivation of habits about the good things in life and build akhlaq al-karimah, so that learners have a high awareness and understanding as well as concern and commitment to apply good in life. To inculcate about good things to the students there needs to be a good example of a teacher. If we trace our first teacher is Rasulullah, then is tabiin, then tabiuttabiin, then the mujtahid, ulama, kiai, then the teachers in the schools. Therefore, imitating the former people or the chosen ones (salafusshalih) is the thing that is recommended for anyone, especially for the students or the young generation. To implement this then education takes a very important position. Salman Al-Farisiboardingschoolis one of the educational institutions that adopt character education from Salafussholih by involving all circles both family, school and community. Through field research with qualitative descriptive approach in this study found character education imitatesalafussholih in PondokPesantren Salman Al-Farisi begins with the process of student input to identify the ability and background of the students' family as the basis of developing the strategy of internalization of values developed throughout the program of school activities . The implementation strategy is targhib and tarhib as the control of adab and morality student, motivate to apply the learned knowledge and teacher guidance and communication systems to students.From the results of the evaluation of learning shows the achievement of learning aspects of cognitive or students' intelligence, the characteristics of affective learning results also appear in various behaviors such as discipline in following subjects, high self-motivation to know more about the material delivered.
