Abstract

Globalization has facilitated the dissemination of different cultures and perspectives through various media, one of the media that is most familiar with society is Korean drama which has more or less influenced the views and way of life of the people, especially teenagers who are still at the stage of identity searching. Identity is formed through the interaction and experience gained during a person's life, one of the sources of the formation of self-identity is the behavior of modeling that teens do to the idol or figure that often the individual noticed. Individuals are often not only showcase the appropriate side of the culture or worldview in Indonesia, adolescents who have been influenced by Korean dramas often imitate the customs that are commonly practiced in Korean countries. This study aims to understand the impact of Korean drama on the image of the late teenage self-identity that fonders Korean drama. The method used is qualitative method with informant jumblah 5 which is Psychology student of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta who likes Korean drama for at least 2 years, researcher chosen by using purposive random sampling technique. The data in the research is obtained through interview method, observation and filling of open questionnaire which contains a list of questions related to the hobby of informants watching Korean drama. From the results of research conducted can be concluded the influence of watching Korean dramas on adolescent identity, especially on the desire to imitate the style of behavior and appearance of the idol.
