Abstract

This study aimed to analyze and test the effect of financial reward, professional recognition, social values, work environment, and labor market considerations on the election of a career as a public accountant by Accounting Students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The population in this study were all off the students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Department of Accounting Program S-1. The sample of this study is the student majoring in Accounting of Faculty Economics and Business in 2015 generation as many as 80 respondents. The technique to get the sample is using convenience sampling. Analysis of the data in this study is using a quality test data and the classical assumption test. The hypothesis test in this research uses a multiple linear regression analysis, with SPSS in 16.00 version. The results of this study showed that professional recognition, social values, work environment, and labor market considerations have a significant influence on the election of career as a public accountant. Meanwhile, financial rewards doesn’t has an influence on the election of career as a public accountant.
