Abstract

One of the risks that women face with increasing age of life expectancy associated with health is a state of bone loss or osteoporosis. Osteoporosis and low bone mass are presently thought to constitute a serious health threat to women and men 50 years of age or older. Based on a preliminary study conducted by the authors in July 2013 in the village of Pabelan obtained the result that the population in the village of Pabelan 350 people consists of 105 families, the number of female population aged 40-50 years as many as 60 people. The results of interviews by random authors to seven respondents about knowledge of osteoporosis, four people (57.14%) answered less true and three people (42.86%) answered correctly. While the results of interviews on the prevention attitude of osteoporosis known that 5 people from 7 informants answered rarely drink milk and exercise, while for sunbathing activities 4 people from 7 informants is still rare. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about osteoporosis with prevention of osteoporosis in women aged 45-50 years in the village of Pabelan. The population in this study were all female residents who lived in Pabelan Village, Kartasura District, Sukoharjo Regency, aged 45-50 years with 270 people. Sampling technique in this research using simple random sampling technique, so that obtained 73 respondents as sample research. Data collection using questionnaire, while data analysis using Chi Square. Based on the results of the study known that the relationship between the level of knowledge with prevention of osteoporosis in women aged 45-50 years in the village of Pabelan, Kartasura, Sukoharjo (p = 0.008).
