Abstract

Test of Anti Diabetic of 70% Ethanolic Extract of Orthosiphon Stamineus Stem on Aloksan-induced Diabetes Mellitus Rats. Willy Rizal Briyanto1, EM Sutrisna2 Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta,. ABSTRACT Goal : Goal of this research is to determine and directly test the antidiabetic effects of Stamineus orthosiphon stem extracts against alloxan-induced rats with indicator of blood sugar levels. Methods : This research uses laboratory experimental design and giving treatment to animal samples that have been determined by pre and posttest controlled group design method. The research was conducted in Pharmacology Laboratory of Faculty of Medicine University of Muhammadiyah. This research will be conducted in December 2016. The subjects were 25 male rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar strain that healthy, aged 2-3 months,and have 150 - 200 grams weight. Data analysis techniques using Kruskall-Wallis test followed by Mann-Whitney test. Results : The ethanol 70% extract of Orthosiphon stamineus stem can reduce blood glucose level on Alloxan – induced white male rats wistar strain. But only the dose of 800 mg/kgBW is as effective as dose of 600µg/kgBW of glibenclamide. Keywords: Anti Diabetic, 70% Ethanol Extract, Orthosiphon Stamineus Stem, Diabetes Mellitus
