Abstract
School as education institution is a site of learning process intentionally to develop students’ personality and potentials in order that they grow and develop as the national education goal. The study aims to know the relation between social competence and learning achievement, so that the writer proposes a hypothesis as “there is positive corelation between social competence and learning achievement”. Subjects in this study were 75 students of SMK Negeri 1 Purwodadi class XI with cluster random sampling. Random sampling is done by drawing draws from various departments in class XI. Measuring tool used to reveal the research variables there are 2 kinds of measuring instruments, namely: (1) the scale of social competence (2) Documentation of the value of study achievement report cards. Data analysis in this research use product moment correlation. Based on the results of the analysis then obtained a correlation between social competence with learning achievement (r) of 0.578 with p <0.01, means there is a very significant positive relationship between social competence with learning achievement. That is, the higher the social competence the higher the learning achievement in the students. From the average of social competence on students of SMK N 1 Purwodadi class XI is high and learning achievement of SMK N 1 Purwodadi class XI including high also. The role of social competence on learning achievement (SE) of 33.4%, which means there are still 66.4% other factors besides social competence that affect learning achievement.
