Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a disease with a varied etiology and may end up with a condition of renal failure. CKD in Indonesia reaches 70,000 patients and increases 10% annually. Hemodialysis is one of the therapies for stage 5 CKD patients. Albumin levels is an important predictor of the endurance and survival of patients with CKD. Objective: To know the difference of albumin levels in patients with stage 5 CKD who has had and has not had the routine hemodialysis in Dr. Moewardi General Hospital. Methods: An observational analytic research with cross sectional study design. The subjects of the study were patients with stage 5 CKD who has had and has not had the routine hemodialysis at Dr. Moewardi. Sampling technique performed by non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. Data were obtained from medical record’s patients from August 2015 to August 2017. Statistical analysis of this study used Mann-Whitney test. Results: This study used 82 sample, consists of 41 patients with stage 5 CKD who has had the routine hemodialysis dan 41 patients with stage 5 CKD who has not had the routine hemodialysis. The difference of albumin levels in patients who has not had the hemodialysis were 3,37±0,562 gr/dl compared with patients who has had the hemodialysis were 3,79±0,469 gr/dl with p<0,001. Conclusion: There was a difference of albumin levels in patients with stage 5 CKD who has had and has not had the routine hemodialysis.
